Sugar’s Puppies Grow Up, The Adventures of a Livestock Guardian Dog is a children’s picture book and the series’ sixth book. It’s aimed at children ages 2-7 years old, but of course, a little younger or older will enjoy it also, especially if you have a livestock guardian dog.
What’s the Story About?
Sugar loves life on the farm and has enjoyed teaching the puppies about farm life. The puppies are growing quickly. Soon it will be time for them to leave home and start their own jobs, but Sugar is worried. Have they learned everything they need to know? What type of job will they do?
Weeks have passed and the puppies are at their new homes. Sugar’s Mom suggests that they go for a visit. Follow along with Sugar as she learns about the different jobs that dogs can do.
As weeks pass and loneliness settles in, Sugar’s mom decides to take her to see the puppies. Sugar’s excitement bubbles.
This is a great story that teaches children about the different roles that dogs can have. In addition to working on a farm or being a family pet, many dogs are trained to be therapy or service dogs. They can open doors, turn off lights, and give physical and emotional support. Many can even respond to medical alerts.
Additionally, it’s a story about love and acceptance. Plus, it’s a great conversation starter with children about what they want to be when they grow up.
